I always felt the first job of all of us is to seek out a philosophy of life of our own. And the best way to do that is to read the great minds who have already made that search. And spread the reading over as many different cultures as possible. Everyone and every culture has some wisdom to contribute. People who stick to just one dogma, or one culture, are sure to miss out on the broad experience and great depths of perception of what reality we can manage to understand.
