I've been pondering the whole illegal immigrant thing lately...especially since I am on my way to Wash DC to meet with the DHS right now. It seems to me that the real racism is not in Arizona's SB1070, but is actually reflected in the federal government's unequal enforcement of immigration laws. If 11 million Indian immigrants came to the U.S. illegally and set up shop, would we shrug it off? How about Chinese? Euros? The fact is, there are illegals from other countries. Most come here legally on a visiting VISA of some sort and just don't leave when the VISA expires. But there is a major difference here. Most non-hispanic illegal aliens came here legally. Most are documented as being here as they showed their passport when they crossed the border. The women's movement proved something very important regarding sexual harassment. It proved that sexual harassment in the workplace is not limited to direct negative actions toward individuals, but that it also included actions from a superior that a subordinate may not object too and that gives favor to the subordinate as a result. If we are talking men and women here, a boss who is sleeping with his female subordinate and gives her promotions based on the relationship has set up a hostile environment for the other women who are not putting out..so to speak. The same thing is happening toward hispanic illegal aliens. We are giving them preferential treatment. This is not only hostile to legal immigrants, but also to valid citizens AND illegal immigrants of other races and nationalities. Once again, the real racists are the liberals.
