Joe, you must realize that shorting is not for every-one unless you know exactly what you are doing. (just cautioning, not that I am suggesting you don't know it already.) I you must short, consider cyclical large caps which are within 10% of their 52 week highs. Airlines come to my mind. Avoid shorting drugs and consumer brands. Don't short already beaten down (40% or more) stocks. Most tech stocks are still trading under the best of the world scenario. I bought more puts on cisco this morning. I am not recommending that you buy puts on cisco or short the stock. If you look closely, there is still a lot of junk floating in the waters. You need guts to short them, though! i.e. the like of Yahoo, AOL, AVNT. Browse through Roger Babb's thread to get some more ideas for shorting some junk stocks. Hope this helps.
