We have many that suffer from "denial" in that they refuse to openly examine evidence that may conflict with their viewpoint. That phenomenon is common and may in some way relate to "The Milgram Experiment" (Yale 1963) in that Beck, because he is on TV is therefore an "authority figure" to some. Beck is IMO, an idiot, but what is scary is that he has enough of a following to keep him on the air, at least for now. It is worth a short read on Wiki for those who have never hear about "The Milgram Experiment" concerning what people will do when told to do so by an "authority figure".

Your sister, sadly, is hopeless. We do not out these folks for her benefit- after all it's all a "big media" conspiracy whether their little minions get caught saying something stupid or doing something stupid. But the outings help remind the center just how crazy the right wing is. And couple that wingnut craziness with a good economy, and the democrats will have at least another 4 years. Sorry about your sister. Craziness often has nothing to do with intelligence.
