David, this is certainly pertinent to IOM. I'm puzzled
by the analyst's conflicting statements...

<snip>
A big portion of the layoffs could come in the emerging digital
imaging arena
, which accounts for less than $2 billion of Kodak's nearly $16 billion in sales, said analyst B. Alex Henderson of
Prudential Securities Inc.<snip>

Henderson expects Fisher will re-invest as much as 40 percent of
Kodak's cost benefits in new ventures, particularly in digital
imaging.

Everything points to Kodak....("Big announcement")

The analysts comments sure would lead you that way.

Kodak will shed a variety of money-losing businesses and products, trim its sales force by 10 percent and refocus research costs to curb this year's projected losses of $400 million in digital photography

No need to research if you have a nhand or Klic drop-in. I'm sure its not completely a drop in, but IOM has performed most of the up front work in the research. Don't need to push digital if you have some other company push your product for you.

'We are less confident management can turn this area around,''

Focus on what you are good at...

New ventures...digital imaging -- Sound familiar?

A big portion of the layoffs could come in the emerging digital imaging arena, which accounts for less than $2 billion of Kodak's nearly $16 billion in sales, said analyst B. Alex Henderson of Prudential Securities Inc.

If you are going to invest in digital imaging but also layoff in the same area, then something has to be up. Iom's work force instead of Kodak's!

"Kodak will probably try to establish more joint ventures and alliances with high-tech companies, analysts agreed. ''In technology, you just can't go it alone,''

I like Joint Ventures don't you?! High-tech!, Is IOM high tech?
