I don't hold either group to modern moral standards. The bible is not history. It is a collection of tribal myths and stories. Many of the stories are brutal and ugly and they need to be challenged when people use them as a guide for living because that is transferring a primitive morality to a civilized modern world which we do not need. Just as we don't need Athenian morality and slavery transferred to a civilized modern world.
