as the PC supply chain suggests an ongoing inventory outage that refuses to go away and an inability to materially reduce lead times.

There are very mixed signals on this, as I've been following it for the last few months and posting here now & again. Digitimes has various indications of both slowdowns in the PC space as well as tight supply issues. IMHO, the tight supply issues are more related to the mobile gadget space, and this can also impact similar components used in PCs. Most recently, the MB shipments for June came in on the light side.

I wouldn't be surprised if AMD has a reasonable Q2, possibly with upside surprise, but the guidance might be light going forward.

AMD remains a "best-idea pick," Freedman said, arguing that the Street is severely underestimating how well the company will perform. He expects AMD to report calendar year 2011 EPS of $1.25 to $1.50, compared to analyst projections of $0.86.

Seems a bit odd to be yakking about AMD's 2011 earnings instead of what Q2 2010 might be?
