Things not to be questioned: Every word of the bible, patriotic support for our wars, God is on our side and capitalism, untampered with, will create ample opportunities for all who are willing to work. Unfortunately, when simplistic slogans and empty platitudes are crushed against the hard rocks of ugly realities the choices are to question their wisdoms or to blame the victims, and it's a lot easier to blame the victims than it is to rethink long held and very reassuring beliefs. Ed PS, it irks me to see so many Republican speakers use the phrase, "We won in Iraq" without a hint of caution from the Democrats sitting beside them. They're creating "common wisdom" that's just wrong and the press has stopped following the problems in Iraq. We'll find out whether anyone won in Iraq over the next decade or so and if we end up "losing" they'll be able to say, "We won until THEY (Democrats) lost it for us." Will the Democrats ever find courage and a brain?
