It was your comment that everyone you know and their families have a big position in gold. That certainly isn't around the US of A except for small pockets outside of bullion dealers, but even that disperses when the sun comes up.

Coincidentally, I ran across this tidbit on HB's blog which he posted today:

"Mark Hulbert's HGNSI measure of gold advisor sentiment is only a hair above 9%. This is remarkable with gold trading within 5% of an all time high in dollar terms (this measure of sentiment has in the past gotten as high as 89% near major highs)."
