But I'd be willing to bet that if you polled all the Prius drivers, you'd find that the vast majority of them do think that they're being responsibly "green" and saving the planet.

I doubt it. I think most people are more concerned with the geopolitical and economic ramifications. Prius drivers are a pretty educated bunch in general.
