Thanks for the response and I still think you are an important part of the electorate (the 3 or 4 percent that will swing the election). Imo you are now reflected in the polls as being quite negative on the current administration.

But I still don't get it. Are you suggesting that the administration should pander to the public and give them what they think the public wants? Forget it - that is not really important.

What is important is to understand your mindset. IMO the only real difference between you and the current administration is in the way they are trying to balance the budget.

They have to come out and try to convince you that they are flat out trying to balance the budget. They have to send out Christine Romer to target the 3 or 4 percent (and not the masses) to explain their side of the story.

IMO their side of the argument is quite compelling but for some reason they may never be able to convince you and your innate feelings about personal responsibilities to allow government to redress economic imbalances on a personal level.
