Well, Denmark isn't exactly a challenge to US cell phone technology, you know? That is, technology the US invented, of course. Personally, I've never had a problem using my cell phone in NYC, so I'm really not sure what you're getting at.

Denmark has some 6.5 million cell phones in an area of 16K sq/mi. I'd guess NYC on an average day has triple that number packed into 3 Sq/mi. So, NYC obviously is a far greater challenge to serve, but I think they do fairly well.

Denmark could easily be served by American cellphone technology of a decade ago, albeit without the faster data rates of today.
