Sooo, we leave all the inefficiencies in place even adding to them? How will that ever allow the inefficiencies to be addressed? We tried this grow our way out and it was called the Bush years. You really want to go back to that?

Now there's a word worth pondering, Steve, "inefficiencies." I want to join the parade against it. I'll lead it. I want efficiency.

But I want a strong public sector, as I've said repeatedly. What's happening now is not reduction in "inefficiencies", unless we mean completely different things. It's cutting back essential services. It's the notion that, somehow, if taxes are cut, the political class will cut those suckers rather than simply take an axe to the public sector.

We're going to see that work its way through Jersey, I'm afraid, in the next several years.
