RE:"finance reform"

Like I told Ted before. On a scale of one to ten, the Pubs are a 1 and Dems a 1.5...

Bragging rights for election time...NG

Let's flip your outrage over. The question I'm asking is why are the Dems so willing to take whatever they can get? That's what has us all so pissed. If the Dems would stand their ground on the issue and highlight the fact that the GOP is trying to water down the reform, then the Dems would get the backing of the people.

Instead, in typically ball-lacking fashion, the Dems allow themselves to be bullied and let the bill get watered down of any value, then go out on a victory, "mission accomplished" tour, which leaves all of us one time supporters shaking our heads and calling bullshit.

That was last summer. The truth is Congress has always been about compromise. That's the nature of a democracy.

However, we have never had the GOP be so recalcitrant. And unfortunately, the Dems need their votes in the Senate.

Your criticism of the Dems was fair last summer but now I know longer agree. They have passed a huge amount of legislation given the negative environment. You may not agree with all of it but most of it is good stuff.

And Obama is no slacker either:

So yes, the GOP are slime-ball bullies, who are bought and paid for by Wall Street and Big Oil. But the Dems are little wimpy, ineffective legislators, who have managed to take a massive mandate and do nothing with it. That's just damned frustrating. If I had one piece of advise for the Dems and Obama it would be this: "Grow some balls and stick to your guns. Force the GOP to take a stand and expose them for what they are. And don't pass any damned legislation that doesn't solve the root cause of a problem. If it gets watered down, then expose the GOP for it and start from scratch."

Again, not fair....but let me add......Rs are beyond slimeball. The oil spill is seriously hurting fishing and tourism in the Gulf and yet one Gulf R after the other has opposed Obama's moratorium on 33 deep sea oil rigs...that's 33 out of thousands of rigs. And its not just the politicians.....the GOP judges are in on it too. They have thrown out the moratorium twice. Obama is trying a third time. Joe Barton of TX has apologized to BP. The GOP is a minority party but they still have considerable power and Obama and the Dems fight them every day. You need to pay more attention. Its not politics as usual. I think this country is very close to civil war.
