Same thing just happened in the GOP runoff for the Alabama Governor's office.

The GOP's establishment-backed candidate (once dominating in the polling) got trounced by a physician (and little-know state legislator who made little mark while in the legislature) who drew-down his own 401(k) and mortgaged his home to raise funds for the campaign... and who, (apparently), struck the electorate as a nice honest guy... mostly by virtue of the fact that the ESTABLISHMENT INCUMBENTS (including sitting Guv. Riley) didn't support him.

ANTI-incumbent is the mood! :-)
