Here's the appropriate links to the study that came up with TX as best state for business. The first link explains how the study was done, and it looks perfectly kosher to me in terms of the variables used. It wasn't subjective. It used public data to crunch the numbers.

The second link is how all the states rank in various categories and is rather interesting, I thought. MA and NJ come in 1 and 2 in education. I see why John is fierce in wanting to protect the high educational standards in NJ.
