Thanks, can anyone account for the other 43%?

Associated Press - November 7, 1997

New York (AP) - A twenty-three year old man killed in a car accident reportedly had taken Tylenol for a headache earlier that day. The FDA reportedly has cleared McNeil Consumer Products Company, the maker of Tylenol, from any wrong-doing. McNeil's stock, however, was sent reeling by Wall Street down by 10%. The stock was already down more than 40% in the previous weeks, presumably from knowledge of the incident by money managers and in-the-know Wall Street "Fat Cats". No one at McNeil was available for comment. "They are obviously up to something. I predict that the companies earnings will by slashed in half by next year, and their stock will be lucky to be worth 25% of it's high last month," commented an anonymous analyst. Rumor has it that Tylenol is to be pulled from the shelves by next week.

Makes about as much sense, doesn't it?

The old man died on Monday Oct.6, and the conference
call took place after the close on Wednesday Oct.8.
Vivus started to go down the next day. There were
no negative news in the conference, and it seems
very likely that some MMs got wind of his death
and started selling in panic without at that time
knowing the circumstances. After all he was part
of the FDA study and quite a few people would
know about it. The news release today explained
the incident, and it is obvious that the guy died
of a heart attack or stroke unrelated to Muse.
The release came out just before the market
closed, and we saw a one point uptick in just a
few minutes. Just before Vivus was down 1 3/4.
I think this has been overhanging the stock all
these weeks and we have finally cleared the air.
