You're right.

What pisses me off is that the manipulation is just so in your face. They don't even try to hide it.

I was in AT&T yesterday to get my old and unsexy I-Phone 3G tuned up. DEAD. No line, no wait, no sales happening for Apple. To contrast, just a couple weeks ago the joint was packed with a sign in sheet and a pretty long wait. And no one asked me if I wanted an I-Phone 4.
