Just because the rest of the world doesn't have but one aircraft carrier, doesn't mean that's what we should have. Northrop Grumman manufacturers all sorts of other ships, not just aircraft carriers. Do we want all of our ships built overseas in some other country? Or do we not want more ships in the future? Gathering together the expertise, technology and funding to rebuild new companies is not possible today unless we go to a WW basis, at least that I can see.

Who else in the world goes to the hot spots in the world? What other country in the world sends their ships in to help with various disasters? Do we, the US, have adequate subs AND missiles that would deter incoming nuclear or EMP tipped warheads?

Northrop Grumman Corp. (NOC), one of the largest contractors to the U.S. Navy, said Tuesday it would close one of its seven shipbuilding yards and may sell or spin-off the entire naval business.
