But John, Intel wouldn't have been able to buy back a whole bunch of stock in the 70s <g> I agree 100% with your opinion on Intel PR. But, maybe our message is getting thru. Intel sounded mighty bullish today (for Intel that is <g>). Too bad there wasn't a bull market today or else Intel would have closed over 80.

CNBC said that Intel didn't have a firm grasp on the numbers, 500-750MM revenue downside for the quarter, so that was why they weren't more explicit weeks ago.

But I think you are correct. They could have been more explicit about the reason for the 4Q96 anticipated slowdown than they were. Their simple mantra of "flat to slightly up" did not cut it and caused a lot of FUD. FUD=cheaper INTC=bargains for buyers since 10/14.
