Ken:

<< "Now, this is why I am uneasy. During the the rapid descent from 16 to 10 the short situation was increasing! (At 10, there was over 4.5 mllion shares short!)" >>

Ken, what is your source for these numbers?

The most recent numbers I have been able to find are as of 10/15/97 and published 10/27/97 per:NSAD @ nasd.com

Security Name S3 INC
Security Symbol SIII
Current Shares Short 4108038
Previous Month's Shares Short 4534937
Change in Number of Shares Short -426899
Percent Change in Shares Short -9
Average Daily Share Volume 1988688

Where did you find numbers for after 10/15/97?

Thanks in advance
Dale

Ken,

S3 has been shorted at around the 4 million shares for the last few reports
I have seen and even when it ran up to 17-18 before falling out of bed.

There may have been some increase in the short on a net basis but not as much
as you suggest.
