I'm over 60. Back then I was a staunch Republican and voted for Nixon. But as the party showed its real colors over time through Nixon, Reagan, and Bush the 1st, I realized what a mistake I made. and have voted Democrat ever since - but I claim no party as I am wary of politicians.

It's odd. I don't get the nostalgia for the claustrophobic, xenophobic, segregated world of the 50's. But there is truly no accounting for tastes.
