It's hard to say what the liberals believe in. Other than big government is good and that it is ok to forcefully take from the haves and give to the have nots (otherwise known as redistribution of wealth (as long as it isn't their wealth being redistributed)).

I gave two examples, both of which gave preferential treatment to liberal organizations (unions) who didn't want their wealth redistributed. You asked how their wealth is protected from redistribution. The answer is quite simple "have a friend in the whitehouse who doesn't believe that we are a nation of laws, but that we are nation of special cases".
