Yes, Apple's problem is a minor glitch but they did mishandle it. There is a propensity for mass hysteria over trivia these days. People who couldn't drive their Toyotas, pushing the accelerator instead of the brake resulted in mass hysteria. BP lost a well and mass hysteria ensued. Apple's antenna gets a short to fingers and the signal indicator light software was wrong and it's treated like Chernobyl. No biggie. Hold it better, or put some duct tape on it [free "bumpers" are available too]. Indicator lights don't matter much = you either get good reception or you don't. The call quality is the best indicator of reception. Great reception is no use if there's a full network, or too much interference. Meanwhile, the Great Global Financial Calamity continues but people ignore it while worrying about some oiled pelicans, some iPhone bumpers, and floor mats in Camrys which the drivers let slide all the way up to the accelerator pedal - those drivers should check the oil in their engines too; they also need to sometimes check the road in front of their vehicle. Real size of problem: iPhone $1 million [hold right, or put duct tape on] Toyota acceleration $1 million [straighten floor mat] Oil well failure $2 billion [plus political bribes] Chernobyl $50 billion [power stations gone and a lot more besides] Iraq and Afghanistan wars $1 trillion [umpty thousand dead and vast material waste not to mention huge opportunity cost].
