robnhood, do you know what used to be employed, rather than some forms of regulation? it used to be reputation. it used to take a long time of honest and honorable dealings to build a reputation. reputation therefore was valued like gold. but of course with government regulations to 'protect the people' there was a lesser need for reputation until now when it doesn't seem to matter too much anymore.
