These poor folks are not to blame anyway. It's our government policy makers who are at fault.

Your comments about the movie industry explain a lot. I'm beginning to understand it better through PMs with SmoothSail on another matter.

It reminds me of a third hand story about a fellow who worked for the same agency I did (USFS), and moonlighted in Billings when they were filming Little Big Man. He was Hoffman's driver. Dropped him off where ever he wanted, waited, took him home and so forth.

Finally Hoffman says "Why don't you go down and buy some fishing equipment for yourself? Get some rods and reels and go fishing."

"Oh, I couldn't do that. That wouldn't be right." (USFS employees of that era were tight as drums and never deviated from policy.)

"No no! Go ahead. The studio's got lots of money. Buy yourself some new boots too."

"And that isn't limited to natural born US citizens."

The people you know come from countries where there is no entitlement - so they don't expect entitlement. What they see is corruption and that corruption is normal not shocking like it would be to you and Smoothsails.

I got a speeding ticket while not speeding in Mexico last year and the two Mexicans that were with me said the cop has to eat to.
