Z, I just thought of something "brilliant."

How about you gather up all of your fellow liberals who, like you, wish they paid more in taxes? Agree upon how much more they can afford, then collect that money and hand that over to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

You can even do the hand-off in a press conference. Demonstrate to the rest of society how you are contributing toward the improvement of society and the advancement of "progressive" ideals.

Maybe then you can convince people that taxes are too low and that they should sacrifice for your idea of a "fucking society" just like you and your fellow liberals are.

The government shifts wealth "downward" not "upward". Wealthy people pay most of the federal tax burden, and pay more then the non-wealthy not just as a total, and a per person dollar amount, but also as a percentage of their income.
