The question is not whether or not the climate is warming. The question is whether it is caused by man or is part of the historical major changes in the climate.

Even more importantly, are the changes within the normal fluctuations or are they nothing more than statistical "noise"?

Try to focus our concerns on the real issues and not just the peripheral issues that are charged with so much emotion.

IMHO the jury is still out.

Blessings,

JRH

Climate has changed since the beginning of time. It's that dolts like you fall for the religion of "we caused it". Enjoy your kool-aid, while many citizens of the world that are paying carbon penalties are beginning to realize, they've been had. You're just behind the curve.

500 Boats Aid In Chinese Oil Spill Cleanup

Huh? Chinese oil spill?

July 19th, 2010
From China’s Xinhua News:

Over 500 fishing boats join Dalian oil spill cleanup operations after pipeline explosion
2010-07-19

DALIAN, July 19 (Xinhua) — Over 500 fishing boats Monday joined a massive oil spill clean-up operation underway off the coast of northeastern China’s Dalian City, three days after pipelines exploded near the city’s oil reserve base, one of China’s largest.

A dark-brown oil slick has stretched over at least 183 square kilometers [70.6 square miles] of ocean near blast-hit Xingang port, with 50 square kilometers [19.3 square miles] severely polluted.

The over 500 fishing boats have been loaded with oil absorbers and dispersants to help in the clean-up south of Dalian’s Golden Pebble Beach and east of Bangchui Island.

Strong winds help contain the severely polluted area Sunday, Luan Yuxuan, deputy director of Dalian City’s Oceanic and Fishery Administration, said Monday.

Luan said the clean-up operations will take at least four to five days.

The cleanup started Saturday. By Monday morning, 24 oil clean-up vessels and 800 fishing boats had been mobilized, said Luan. About 460 tonnes of the spilled oil has been collected.

Officials said they did not know the exact amount of oil spilled into the sea.

Large quantities of oil-spill dispersant and absorption felts have been shipped in from neighboring Tianjin Municipality and Shandong Province, maritime officials said.

Vessel traffic at Dalian, China’s second largest port for crude oil imports, has been limited to allow the cleanup operations to proceed.

Wang Ning, a senior engineer with the maritime affairs bureau of Liaoning Province, told Xinhua port operations have been limited but not completely suspended.

Ships are allowed to enter and exit the ports with permission, he said.

Fire engulfed the Xingang port Friday evening, after an oil pipeline exploded, triggering an adjacent pipeline to explode as well. The fires raged for 15 hours before being extinguished Saturday morning. No one was hurt in the explosions or subsequent fires.

A team was established Sunday morning to investigate the incident.

Compare and contrast. By the way, for some reason this blast and leak has received scant coverage in the US media.

Also, notice that there is no talk of the Chinese closing down their pipelines for six months, while they re-write their regulations.

Where is the outrage?

This issue is not whether there are observed changes in ice coverage, water temperature, etc. The climate of the earth has always been changing. Nothing is static, and where glaciers are retreating for one episode of time, they have advanced in other periods. Perhaps it is a big deal now because people have begun to build an awareness of our surroundings, and have come to understand that human activity is creating changes in our environment. Unfortunately this awareness has now led to a hyper-sensativity of all things environmental and a mass hysteria to 'do something about the problems'.

Somehow people came to believe that we are master of all things in our universe, and that we can change the very climate of our planet. This is nonsense.

There are far too many people who automatically accept that if we have evidence of climate change, that it automatically validates the global warming theories, and that it entirely due to the influence of people.

The reason the climategate disclosure was so damning is because it proved you have scientists that have conspired to alter the evidence such that it builds a stronger case for their propaganda. By 'hiding the decline' one can make a far stronger case that something is amiss because it suggests that the climate variation today is far stronger than any other time in history. This then generates a sense of urgency and also undermines the fact that climate change is part of the normal functioning of our planet.

All of the clueless and gullible people who have been mobilized by this scam are now activists to promote it. In a democratic society, if you can fool enough people to get them to behave exactly as you want them to, then you will see your agenda supported regardless of whether it has any merit whatsoever. And that is exactly what we are witnessing in real time.

Show me all of the melting glaciers you wish, and that does not provide a shred of evidence that people are the cause, or that by radically altering our behaviour we will be able to change things in the future.

cheers!
