I had earlier started to reply on the subject of obesity, but decided not to unless there was further discussion. What I'd like to point out is, especially here in the US, it's hard to avoid added sugar in one's diet, particularly high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). HFCS, more so than other sweeteners, goes directly into the creation of fat when it is not immediately burned off from exercise. And, there is evidence that HFCS is addictive in that the more that is consumed, the higher becomes one's appetite for sweet foods.

In North America, try to get through a day without consuming HFCS. ...much easier elsewhere, but that will change as Less Developed Nations "achieve?" our standard of living.
