ed, you are going to have to disguise your post better..they think that steve now has another log in called ed.
I would add a few things on dell.
dell needed the low cost drive and the retail pc. They couldn't do it because cyrx couldn't supply. they are temporarily checkmated til intel has chip to compete with cyrx.
dell also needs to revive their world wide ERP solution.
dell needs to use systems more and start re-engineering more processes.it's like they have stopped with the real woooow stuff.
Dell needs to deploy internet based edi to electronically manage
the vendor supply chain. and, they need to force their vendors to implenment JIT and JITII. they just force the vendor to keep stk to do their JIT. vendor just adds it to price.
DEll also needs to start JIT'ing their business processes. something they need an ERP that is world wide to perform.
The need to bite the bullet and deploy their own SMT plants. SMT and it's future directions is getting expensive to purchase bec. of shortages of high qulaity capacity..it will remain this way.
they better start quick, bec. HP, IBM, DEC are pissed at losing accts. to dell. they have started to fight back with their own BTO prgrams and said..they will at first drop prices to cost to get market share back.
IBM and HP bto program even includes placing the processor chip on at the last second. that has become a big issue lately.
