Mike Hodge,

Re your questions regarding Ampex and the military, the following is from the Ampex Website--also discussed in some detail in the annual report and 10K---

"Unmatched record for supplying military, aerospace and high-security data collection operations worldwide with DCRsiT, the most advanced, highly-ruggedized digital instrumentation recorders available, and DIST instrumentation/data storage recorders and libraries."

"The latest Ampex products can be found at many highly visible and respected installation sites, including AT&T, Sprint, MCI, the FBI, Eastman Kodak, Digital Domain, Industrial Light & Magic, Mobil Oil, Schlumberger, Aramco, Exxon, National Center for Supercomputing, Argonne National Lab, Naval Research Lab, NASA, Texas Instruments, Hughes Radar, Los Alamos National Lab, Dept. of Defense, Boeing, Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Bros., HBO, Sony Pictures, and The Post Group."

A few military type names there, right?

"1950 - Ampex introduces the first "dedicated" instrumentation recorder, Model 500, built for the U.S. Navy."

"1958 - NASA selects Ampex data recorders and magnetic tape, used for virtually all U.S. space missions since."

Check out the DCR/DIS product page on the Ampex web. DCR is used on F22, F18 E-F, Tornado etc etc, Boeing 777

These are just the facts.
