This will be overturned on appeal.

Wonderful.
Now everyone can go out and buy a Bronze Star with "V" for Valor (heroism) in ground combat, a Purple Heart, a Silver Star, Medal of Honor, Combat Infantryman Badge, Master Parachute Badge, Green Beret, SEAL Trident and claim to have personally earned them all.

Watch for some "enterprising soul" to start selling them on e-Bay. Disgusting.

I hope this story (that a judge ruled the Stolen Valor Law unconstitutional on free speech grounds) does not get buried by BP, Black Panthers, Lindsay Lohan, and NAACP.

Such a ruling seems absurd to me.

Not just absurd, but outrageous.

On the same grounds you could say that fraud and bunko laws are unconstitutional because they interfere with freedom of speech.

Identity theft laws interfere with freedom of speech too. What's the difference between identity theft and falsely claiming military decorations?

None, I think.

Does this judge want to rule on that?

On a moral level, Stolen Valor is WORSE. While Identity Theft steals only letters and numbers and money from one person at a time, the false claim of valor steals reputation and character from every single hero who earned it honorably.

Glenn Beck is saying just now that without integrity we have no liberty.

I think we better do something about this.

Like Al Gore did when he publicly tossed his medals. I bet a guy like you who earned his medals would do great harm to anyone tossing them away.
