hit him over the head with a "reasonable regulation" stick and we could actually make BIG progress as a nation.

I agree with you that voting the GOP back in power will be rewarding the people who created a lot of this mess. However, it won't be the end of the world. Obama still has veto power. I think you have already given Obama the mantle of "the greatest President", but I think it's too soon to judge. Let's see him wield the veto and bend the GOP to his will, while holding them accountable for their fascist behavior and policies after November. That will be his true test of greatness. If he buckles under GOP bullying, then we'll know he's a pushover and another Carter.

I think you ignore the polls that he, as president, can't. Americans have said repeatedly they want the two sides to work together. That means he has to make some effort to reach across the aisle even as we all know the Rs are nothing more than belingerent children. Having said that, from time to time, he hits the GOP over the head.....like he did over unemployment benefits this past week and half.....and he hit them hard. Nonetheless, he is the president to all Americans, not just the ones that voted for him.

As for him being a great president, what I said was he's the best president in the past 30 years. Whether he will be great will depend on how things develop going forward. He has greatness in him and the ingredients to be a great president. Time will tell.
