(I, for one, always 'noticed' the size of that F.I.C.A. line on pay stubs. :-) Sure you do. In fact I'd say many people do. But what your really paying is twice what it says on your paystub and most people don't realize that. Once again (bolding the points you seemed to miss with your response about noticing the F.I.C.A line on your pay stubs)- My problem with the "business side" of the payroll tax is that its incidence is essentially no different than the "employee side" but since it doesn't get listed as a deduction/payment on pay stubs, a lot of people don't realize that this additional tax is being imposed on them.
