I agree that CDSL is the coming thing. Initial test reports (I forget where I read it) show that 1 Mbps may not be realized in real world situations but whatever the connect rate you get it's going to be a helluva lot faster/better than either 56K or ISDN.

Regarding bonding of 2 analog lines (Diamond, et al), that's similar to bonding the 2 B channels of an ISDN line. I have heard that where it departs from the ISDN simile is that it becomes 2 circuits whereas the ISDN bonded B channels act as a single circuit. The problem isn't at the suer's end, it's that there are 2 circuits headed towards the ISP and degraded circuit quality on one means that there may well be problems with the 2 lines' data streams arriving at the same time. Any latency on one in excess of the other means a fallback so that the streams matchup.

That's what I've heard from an ISP engineer - does that make sense to any of you tech-types out there?
