One thing being a lawyer beats into you is that in any argument, more often than not, both sides are full of shit.

Usually, one side is more full of shit than the other, and sorting things out involves weighing the respective sacks of shit, with the light one winning.

If both sides are reasonable, there probably won't be an argument to begin with.

If one side is perfectly reasonable and the other is full of shit, the outcome is usually is so obvious that even the side that's full of shit will be forced to realize it, and the case doesn't get very far.

It's when both sides are full of shit that lawyers can make a lot of money.

This generally applies to partisan politics too, with both sides in any political debate usually being full of shit.
