An interesting little tidbit related to Flex/X2 and COMS' current problems... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Best Buy & 56K Date: Fri, Nov 7, 1997 11:50 EST From: OSTrail Message-id: <19971107165001.LAA21860@ladder01.news.aol.com> I was in Best Buy (Computer store) two days ago and talking to sales people. They were told to encourage the selling of the 56Kflex instead of the X-2 modem. Reason explained to them was that most of the ISP's supported K56Flex. The K56flex was $50 cheaper anyway. It appears that customers are returning X-2 when they find out their ISP doesn't support X-2. Now we had COMS stalling on the standard because they thought they could sell more Total Control Hubs to ISP's...this is going to bite them in the rear. I think it has started already with all the rumers about excess inventory of X-2 modems hurting COMS. Standard by January now with no delays. OSTrail
