No 2011 guidance

Good! Just like Google, don't give guidance. Whenever the stock is down after guidance, mgt will be blamed for being optimistic or pessimistic.

Needs a little perspective here. Nice forward guidance coming from a company with a rep for being overly cautious. They are raising guidance by 12 cents a share on the low end and five cents on the high end. A lot of the AF rise came during the CC. Obviously from comments that indicate some nice integration and growth in the industry. Yes Apple had a great qtr and they will be rewarded, but their story is already known. A lot of questions have surfaced over the last six months about QCOM. A lot of those questions were answered today. Qcom is still a strong player in this game.

JS, good call on holding through the earning! Short Cover might have contributed to this fast rise. Selling covered calls is probably a good way for now.

Spent 1.18B$ on share buybacks, 32.4M at $36.42 average price

QCOM already makes money on the share buybacks.

Did QCOM buy the shares from the put assignment or straight share purchase? If the company did the latter, why did not they buy when the stock was in the low 30's?

Buy at $36, sell (or short) at $48:

I could extend this chart back to 1999, and $48 looks like a good price to sell at, quite consistently:

disclosure: no current position; considering shorting QCOM.
