Germany is an interesting case. I have no problem at all with socialism. If the American people want to vote themselves a cadillac health plan for every citizen, then let's do it. However, I have one requirement. We need to be able to afford it and pay for it. Right now, we can do neither. Responsible governments don't borrow from China to increase entitlement spending for their lazy populace.

Are Americans lazy or our the gov't's priorities causing this country's financial problems? I tend to think its the latter. You can't start two wars and cut taxes to the rich and expect a balanced budget. Something has to give. Are their lazy people in the country? Sure......but the vast majority of Americans work hard.

If we had a balanced budget, low debt, and could afford to increase entitlement spending, then I'd be first in line to vote for it. But you'll never see me vote for any incremental spending or tax cuts right now. It's plain irresponsible.

There are a lot of people in this country who are not lazy or stupid who have had considerable misfortune and can not pay for health insurance. It is costing us more to have them uninsured than it is to insure them.

When we hit our budget limit at the end of each month, my wife and I don't go out to a big expensive steak dinner. We live by our budget and so should our government.

There are people who don't have budget limits because they don't make enough money to pay their basic expenses. You live in a world ab out which many Americans can only dream.

This is the problem I have with American conservatism.....no matter how much is claimed otherwise, it has no compassion for people who are less fortunate then they are.

Would you rather live in Munich or a small southern town in the USA? Is that end game of 'socialism' versus 'conservatism'?
