Ggamer, re: Q3 Original guidance-

Again my questions, were they wrong for guiding lower?

2) Q3 estimates

……………………………….Consensus est…….Q est

Revenue……….................…..$2.66B…………..$2.60B……under
EPS…………….......................$0.55……………$0.53………under
MSMs………………………………………………100M………higher than Q2 at 93M
Devices………….. guidance no longer provided on a quarterly basis
Device ASP…….. guidance no longer provided on a quarterly basis

3) FY10

……………………Q est…….Consensus est…..Rev Q est
Revenue………...$10.7…….10.77……………..$10.7..……unchanged but under

Q3 results vs original guidance

………………………………..Q est………Actual

As I stated in a follow-up post (see below)- IMO, BK was attempting to “reel-in” the analysts estimates.

…+ “the casino mentality prevails and the miss(es)become the focus.

…+ Not only does Q have to meet /beat their estimates, it also has to meet / beat the consensus.

...+ with the “casino mentality” of the markets - Managing guidance also becomes important in maintaining short term price stability.

…+ Obviously, the “casino players” prevailed in spite of BK’s attempts to provide such stability.

finance.yahoo.com

…+ It now appears that after driving the share price down ~25%, the casino players have reversed course and are expecting to profit on the upswing.

…+ Favorable to Q / us, BK was also able to take advantage of the volatility via share buy backs.

They did up their (FY) unit guidance and (FY) rev guidance and to them they did beat the street.

Agree- Thanks for the post.

However, the casino mentality prevails and the miss(es)become the focus.

This is why I believe BK was attempting to reel in the analysts estimates last quarter---- trying to limit potential areas for a miss. But--- the volatility helps to get the wall street crowd back in the black.
