It seems if you just enforced the jobs/employer and housing issues, you'd get half to three quarters of the way there.

Fine the hell out of anyone who hires or houses illegal aliens. Gotta be cheaper than a continental wall and less unsavory than a shooting gallery.

>>Get real, we lack the will to even refer to them as "Mexicans," what are the odds that we would be willing to shoot them.<<

What, you don't like the term "undocumented laborer" senor?

Sounds like they left their passport in the car, doesn't it?<G>

Illgal aliens are not all Mexican, only about 75% or so nationally and about 95% in AZ. 20-25% of the Arizona hispanic population consists of illegal immigrants (source: Pew Research Center). There are significant numbers of Salvadoran and South American illegals in the southwest, particularly in Clownifornia.

what are the odds that we would be willing to shoot them.

A few warning rounds 10 feet away will stop most people in their tracks, anyway. You wouldn't have to shoot to kill often. The concertina in the fence would stop most. We could also use the George HW Bush rock and roll defense, you know, play reels of Poison's greatest hits over loudspeakers along with the latest Celine Dion CD's. They'd be on their knees begging to go back in no time (though shooting them may in fact be more humane).

I think we should up the penalties on coyotes, too. The death penalty is not too harsh for those traffickers in other people's misery if you ask me, deportation is waaaaay too light.
