As for Florida.....not so much......most of the Florida names are Indian names.....I think Choctaw mostly.

That's what used to be mid FL, which is right now the North around Tallahassee.
South of what used to be the swamps, all Spanish.


But even in southern FLA there is Lake Okeechobee.....the largest FLA lake.....and its definitely an Indian name.
And Miami got its name from a Tequesta placename, Maymi, which may have meant "wide lake." But yeah, there is a lot of Spanish too starting with the word, Florida.
