Jim, if somebody comes past my house and tells me it's only worth half what it was at the irrational peak, I don't really care because it still does exactly what it did before. If somebody tells me my QCOM is worth only $32 a share instead of the $57 it was, I'm indifferent [except that I might buy another Tonka Truckload to add to my fleet] - provided of course that it's not because the sales and profits have been dropping.

Your whiners shouldn't have paid so much for their investments aka houses with debt in many instances. <millions of small / average investors who lost their shirts in the 50% meltdown- IRA / Pension funds/ savings plans/ kids college plans wiped-out, retirement delayed- out of question. Got any idea how many pension plans are in dire straits >

This discussion is getting off Qualcomm. It started because Paul Jacobs answered a question from you to the effect that high speed [or velocity] trading wasn't in keeping with motherhood and apple pie or something.

More importantly, what's he going to do about the stash of cash and handing it over to the rightful owners [who are not the employees who are paid in cash and future profits represented by share price] before Obama gets hold of it with the canceled dividend tax cuts?

Tell that to the millions of small / average investors who lost their shirts in the 50% meltdown- IRA / Pension funds/ savings plans/ kids college plans wiped-out, retirement delayed- out of question. Got any idea how many pension plans are in dire straits--- suffering huge losses and with less prospect of earning “normal” returns in the future due to real investors abandoning the market / stricter regulation & higher taxes limiting returns?>>

Jim- Surely you don't put all the blame on "speculators" rather than the US Government with their CRA and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and Barney Franks, Chris Dodds, Soros, etc. and the major banks.

When you buy QCOM you are a speculator. When you sell QCOM you are an ex speculator.
