It's about time somebody said this and not just for Nokia but everywhere. <The idea is that you ask the users what they are doing, then design something. If you think about Apple, they don’t ask anybody. The idea of users as designers is a catastrophe!

“It’s only relevant to evolutionary products, it’s not relevant to blue-sky products. When you have a blue-sky product, there are no users, and so there are no users' opinions. We have to rely on what the desires of users are and trust the designers.”

For decades, market research I have seen looks ridiculous. Stupid questions by market researchers who don't know how to think about products.

MediaFLO and Globalstar no doubt had reams of market research to show that what they were doing was excellent and fully tuned to what consumers wanted.

Then, the pricing is announced and products put on sale and consumers say "Oh, you mean you want me to actually PAY for it. And yes, it sounds fun to have FLO zooming in from satellites, but when push comes to shove, I don't actually have much time to goof off watching it."

>>It’s very, very timely <<

Hardly timely Andrew. Someone over there, anyone, including you should have had the guts to criticize Nokia years ago. But you saved all your "analysis" for knocking QCOM. Now its just too late, Finland had their 15 minutes and blew it.
