I found that article fascinating. Basically, the concept that I mentioned is that often new understandings of reality do not truly penetrate the public's worldview until the given generation dies off - and a new generation grows up, already with the new paradigm. Something like... God deciding that Jews, after escaping from Egypt, would have to wonder in the desert until the very last of the former slaves would die, and a new generation would come, which would be capable of living in freedom.
