It might surprise the futurists and environmental activists who support renewable energy to find out that the renewable manufacturing industries, according to a number of studies, create as many -- if not more -- blue-collar, boots-on-the-ground jobs as the fossil fuels industry. In 2009, the number of wind industry workers -- many in manufacturing, heavy transport and factory assembly -- surpassed the total number of workers in coal mining for the first time. News to me... but makes sense.
