The GOP, which is deeply entrenched within the Beltway, will not ever man up. It will take a serious third party threat to make that happen.

The GOP still believes that any Perot type of effort will fail and life will go on. They are overlooking what has happened in the past ten years. Sh!t happens!!

The GOP does not want to lose control of the Congress should the tea party etc. bring a respectable number of "true conservatives" into their House. They are already discussing how to co-opt them.

While it is questionable how effective the Tea Party folks will be in holding office, the bigger issue is whether the GOP will wake up and see that being a "maverick" or being a RINO is no longer tolerated.

We can only hope.
