Look at it this way. In a few weeks or months it will be clear if ole Matt has gone off the deep end. I suspect the deep end is where he will be found. To believe he is right is to believe many many are wrong.

The true location of the well head issue is particularly bizarre (as in pure off the deep end).

>>>having the guts to post it and buck the GroupThink here about Simmons.<<<

No guts required. I am glad that Jim (Pottymouth*) Kunstler views things the same way I do - there is something very wrong in a world where somebody of Simmons' standing says these "off the wall" things and isn't refuted.

At the end of the day there are three parties, two of which will be "indicted." The parties are: a) the press, b) Matt Simmons, and c) BP (to include the government). The press will be indicted either way for being so dull, ignorant or lazy** to not have resolved the matter. And obviously either BP or Simmons will take a fall. In BP's case a bigger one.

* Pottymouth refers to Jim Kunstler's selection of "Clusterf&^k Nation" as his weekly rag title. It so happens that more often than not I agree with his assessment.

** Believe it or not, I do wax somewhat religiously in the traditional sense. I stumbled upon an old copy of the Southwell Litany the other day. Here are two "suffrages" I should send to the entire national press corps - and to BP as well. But that goes w/o saying:

From infirmity of purpose,
from want of earnest care and interest,
from sluggish indolence and slack indifference,
and from all spiritual deadness of heart:

SAVE US AND HELP US, O LORD

From dullness of conscience, from feeble sense of duty
from thoughtless disregard of consequences to others,
from a low idea of the obligations of our calling,
and from half-heartedness in our service:

SAVE US AND HELP US, O LORD
