"I told him how wealthy you have to be to pay it and that less than 10,000 people pay federal estate tax every year."

That's the first act of the lie wealthy (R)'s have perpetrated. As you said, most people aren't aware of how much you need to make to be subject to it period.

The second act of the lie is that they will let stand the lie that the tax takes ALL your former money. They won't disavow this when someone puts it forward.

The third act is, they'll tell you that it drives family farms and small businesses to penury, stealing them from surviving families and forcing them to lay off all their employees. The truth is, both those situations are exempt if they can document that they aren't a scam. So, almost NO family farms and small businesses are put to death, and I'm not sure about the almost!

The wealthy have promoted this scam with the help of pro wordsmiths like Frank Luntz, who turned the "Estate Tax" into the "DEATH Tax", after many, many focus groups.

"Small" people that take the no Death Tax side have been conned into voting against their own economic self interest. I ask these people, would you rather they taxed DEAD people, or YOU?
