not completely, but it is low probability, imho.

in order for that to happen, the 2nd chart would have to resume its parabolic ascent.

either that, or congress would have to strip the fed of its control of its monopoly on the creation of debt money and credit. i think that is unlikely as everything i see tells me that the presidency and the congressional leadership are a wholly owned subsidiary of the wall street financial banking cartel.

if the dollar i displaced as the world's currency, though, then it could be devalued or debased against the new world currency and the elites would make out big with their wealth stored in the new world currency. i expect the new world currency to happen at some point, just not yet.

this deflation monster isn't too far in our future, imho. obama is already talking about cutting back big in 2011... how about $1 trillion disappearing from the economy over night? and that's just the appetizer.

btw, gold (and perhaps even silver) may do relatively well in a deflationary collapse. the severity of this could easily lead to bank closures and rescinding of all or part of the FDIC guarantee. FDIC is simply a promise made by politicial liars, just like SS and MC - which won't pay out nearly what people put in going forward (special interests already stole the actually taxes paid).

smart people will begin to fear that their life savings are at risk and they will value hard assets that aren't easily stolen form them.

in my case, i paid down our home - the location of skeeter's last stand is now written in stone. ;-)

i will likely begin to accumulate silver as the deflationary wave begins to hit in earnest - like 2008, perhaps 2008 on steroids as all confidence is lost in the bullsh*t system that is sheering the sheeple for every dollar the kleptocrats can steal.
